3x Olympian & Walter Cup Champion Laura Stacey hosts 7th Annual “LS7 Foundation #SticksInForCharity” tournament to help provide access to sport for kids in Toronto and Montréal

TORONTO (July 2, 2026) – LS7 Sticks in for Charity, created by 3x Olympian and 2026 Walter Cup Champion, Laura Stacey, is an annual road hockey tournament held in the Etobicoke neighbourhood where the Stacey Family resides. This event raises funds through sport participation in a unique multi-generational road hockey tournament format, where the sticks of individuals of all ages and experience are drawn the morning of the event to create teams, and participants play alongside a number of Stacey’s Team Canada and PWHL Montréal Victoire teammates — as well as other Canadian Olympians, Paralympians, and professional athletes who serve as Captains for each of the participating teams. This year, participating Team Canada teammates include Marie-Philip Poulin, Sarah Fillier, Jocelyne Larocque, Julia Gosling and many more.

This year’s Toronto event takes place on Saturday, July 4, 2025 from 9am-4:30pm at Kingsgrove and Highgate in Etobicoke (Bloor St. W. and Royal York area, full schedule below.)

Building on a successful expansion to Montréal last year, the LS7 Foundation will host its 2nd Annual LS7 Sticks in for Charity tournament in Montréal on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Verdun.

LS7 Foundation’s mission has always been to help kids and individuals find their passion in sport by having fun and staying active. This year, the LS7 Foundation has partnered once again with charity partners KidSport Ontario and Fitspirit-Fillactive, to help accomplish its mission. Funds raised will go to both organizations to support their access to sport initiatives across both provinces where LS7 Sticks in for Charity Tournaments take place.

Since starting the tournament six years ago, LS7 Foundation has supported getting kids active in a variety of ways, originally through physical activity programs in elementary schools, then pivoting to raising money for a PPE donation to Sick Kid’s Hospital through its #stayinsticksin initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year alone, the LS7 Foundation donated $71,000 to the Toronto and Montréal communities through its charitable partners, and this year’s goal is to raise $177,777.

“From growing up and learning to play sports in Kleinburg, Ontario to now living and playing professional hockey in Montréal, Quebec for the Walter Cup Champion, Montréal Victoire, I have been very fortunate to be surrounded by sport throughout my life,” said Stacey. “Enhancing our impact by building on the support we can provide to our charity partners year after year through this tournament, is a way to give back to communities who have helped me chase my dreams and my career aspirations through sport.”

Coming off an impactful year on the ice, competing in both the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games and the 2026 Walter Cup Finals, Stacey looks forward to having a chance to meet many of her supporters at these two tournaments this summer.

“We are so excited for the 7th Annual LS7 Sticks in for Charity Tournament this Saturday, July 4 in Toronto and August 29 in Montréal,” said Stacey. “Both tournaments are going to be the biggest and best yet, with a goal of raising $177,777 to help kids and individuals get active and involved in sport. All proceeds this year will benefit both Kidsport Ontario and Fillactive in Quebec. Come out and support the LS7 Foundation and its mission for a day filled with road hockey, fun, and most importantly, many smiles! All it takes is one opportunity to spark a dream. One chance to play in a community road hockey tournament. One chance to watch a PWHL hockey, WNBA basketball, NSL or NWSL soccer game. One chance to cheer on Team Canada. One magical moment that can change your life. And hopefully this can be one of those moments!”

Please join the LS7 Foundation’s #SticksInForCharity, the Stacey Family and many teammates, colleagues, volunteers, neighbours and friends in supporting access to sport by making a donation , fundraise, bid on the silent auction or buy tickets for the raffle or a 50/50 ticket on site on event day.

About LS7 Foundation – Sticks in for Charity: @laurastacey7

LS7 Foundation was started by 3x Olympian and Walter Cup Champion women’s hockey player, Laura Stacey, with a mission to help kids to find their passion in sport by having fun and staying active. The LS7 Sticks in for Charity Tournament is an annual fundraiser that selects charitable recipients aligned with its mission, and provides a unique opportunity for all ages to get active and have fun through playing hockey outdoors and meeting new people. It’s unlike other tournaments as players will sign-up and register individually, and on the day of the event, sticks will be “pulled” and teams will be made up of players of all different skill sets, abilities and hockey experience. Teams will include professional hockey players, Olympians, adults, and kids. The LS7 Sticks in for Charity Tournament is hosted annually in both Toronto and Montréal, Laura’s two hometowns, and supported by the LS7 Foundation.

About KidSport: @kidsportontario

KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees to kids aged 18 and under. Through a confidential application process, KidSport provides grants that enable kids to play a season of sport through assistance with sport registration fees and equipment costs. KidSport believes that the power of sport participation promotes the development of children’s social, mental, and physical wellbeing. Through increasing access to quality sport programs, KidSport strengthens communities across Canada.

“The foundation of sport is fun and community. It’s what brings kids in and keeps them playing for life. The LS7 Sticks in for Charity event lets us all experience that joy together. Through the generosity of Laura Stacey, the participants and supporters, the event has raised $93,000 and counting for KidSport Ontario, allowing us to support 400 children with registration fees and equipment. Laura and the LS7 Foundation team embody the best parts of sport and we are grateful to continue partnering with them in 2026.” – Sara Restani, Executive Director, KidSport Ontario

About Fitspirit / Fillactive:  @fillactive_fitspirit

FitSpirit-Fillactive is a Quebec-based, not-for-profit whose mission is to encourage teenage girls to be physically active throughout their lives, by offering a unique set of tools and resources for schools with girls 12 to 17 years old, creating unforgettable experiences for them and building a community of inspirational, committed individuals around them. We set out to reverse the trend so that an increasing number of teenage girls meet Canadian physical activity standards.

“FitSpirit is very proud to partner once again, with Laura’s Stacey’s LS7 Foundation, to support FitSpirit’s unparalleled expertise in reshaping environments where physical activity is offered to young girls. Through elevating advocacy and awareness, this partnership goes far beyond investing in a single flagship program. The LS7 Foundation helps FitSpirit grow its impact in high schools, elementary schools and diverse new settings, to multiply adapted spaces that champion multi-sport, non-competitive physical activity. We are proud to strengthen the skills and capacity of these environments to create lasting, structural change alongside the LS7 Foundation, to foster inclusive spaces where every girl can thrive, have fun through sport and be active for life.” – Camille Benoit, Director or Philanthropic Development
